Post #2 was Erin! Congrats! She is the winner of the book giveaway for The Blue Cotton Gown: A Midwife's Memoir.
I finished the book this morning and absolutely loved it. It was beautifully written, the prose was delicate and detailed and I felt very connected to the author's story, especially when she discusses a mother's heartache throughout the book. I once had a friend tell me that when you have children, "you set yourself up for heartache." It always angered me because, at that time, in my mind, having a child would be the most glorifying, wonderful experience ever. And speaking now as a mother, I know it is just that . . . . but the worry and hope you excompass for your child that I can only imagine will grow as she gets older, is something I wasn't really expecting. The author's story and message throughout the book is very poignant and I encourage all of you to check it out. Hopefully, the lovely folks at Beacon Press will keep me in mind when other books like this come their way so we can go these book giveaways more often!
Yay for me!! I love getting books in the mail, it feels like my birthday!
