The big appointment . . . and more trying

Dr. Nice got to meet Ainsley. She munched on raisins while he told her that he was the first person to touch her, except for me, of course. He told her that he knew her when she was "just this big", showing her a tiny little spot between his fingers. She thought it was all rather funny and played her shy game. I felt at peace being there in the room with him, like he holds the key to us having another baby. I know it seems silly, especially since he doesn't specialize in infertility. But he just makes me feel like it is going to be okay. I distinctly remember feeling that way before Ainsley, too.

So? Mike's strange swimmers? Apparently, Dr. Nice isn't worried. The lab that ran our test is apparently not very reliable. (Nice to know now, but whatever.) He said the best tests on sperm are, of course, done at an infertility specialist's office. And I am not willing to head that direction just yet. But the good thing is his count and motility were very good. Apparently the volume was low, ph was a little bit off, and there were 10% more abnormal sperm than the average sample. The reasons could be many, but I guess it was nothing to wave the red flags about.

Our new game plan is as follows: keep doing what we are doing until December, or roughly three more cycles. He said to abstain a few days before ovulation, and due to his high numbers, focus all our "efforts" on the day before, the day of, and the few days after. My ultrasound yielded little information, other than my lining was thin (day 8, so that made sense) and that I have 6 follicles on my right ovary and 4 on my left. No growths, etc. Tilted uterus, but I had that before I had Ainsley. Apparently it is common.

If by December we haven't gotten pregnant, that will be approximately a year of trying. He said the next step would be to retest my husband again by a specialist and then have an HSG done to rule out a blocked tube. I am crossing my fingers that I never have to get to that point and go through that horrifying test, or so I hear. (I am sure Mike would really like to not have to donate anymore, too. )

So, game on.

Glad your appointment went well!! Cheering for no more tests and a BFP!

I'm glad the appointment went well, I'm hoping that you don't have to return in 3 months, instead you are happily expecting a new addition!~
